Motivated and enthusiastic I set off this morning for my first 4 mile run. Having had a lovely 2 nights away with my colleagues at Barden Bridge nr. Bolton Abbey I was looking forward to a pleasant run along the banks of the River Wharfe from Barden Bridge to Cavendish Pavilion and back (more accurate inspection of the map this evening tells me that this was in fact 4.7 and not just 4 miles :)). I set off first thing in the morning and was having a lovely time, birds were singing, the sun was shining and then it hit. Dreaded runners tummy, knowing that there was a loo about 2 miles in I kept going by alternating between runnung and walking in the hope of buying myself enough time to get there (and with my fingers firmly crossed that it would be open at 8.30 in the morning!!), the whole time I was inspecting the woodland for a suitable spot should I not make it to the Cavendish Pavilion loos. I got there, it was open and I went, sweet relief... So there's something new to contend with although on the positive side I didn't get a side stitch today (maybe because I ran first thing before breakfast) but I think on balance I'd prefer to deal with a stitch than runners tummy. I was initially disappointed with my time for the run of 59.23 mins as it's 7 mins over my target time but now I know that the run was 0.7 miles longer than planned and taking account of the loo stop half way though I'm still on track :).
